“RiR – Relationen im Raum” (translation: “Spatial Relationships”) was a project funded by the Ministry for Education and Research which analyzed and visualized the spatial relations between tombstones in Jewish cemeteries.
The aim of “Relationen im Raum” was to develop a “topography visualizer”, which allows to deal with and to answer research questions from a variety of disciplines. Besides the inscriptions on the tombs, formal characteristics are recorded as well and stored in an object-oriented LDAP data base. The spatial-temporal visualization of the stored and aggregated data eventually was created using HyperImage.
In cooperation with the Salomon Ludwig Steinheim Institute, DAASI International is responsible for the interface between the different data sources. Additionally, DAASI International prepares the data of the partners, so that they can be converted for the import in HyperImage later.
