Career Guidance in Practice: BOGY Internship at DAASI International
At a time when job roles are becoming increasingly complex and undergoing significant changes due to digitalization and automation, opportunities for early career exploration are more important than ever. The so-called BOGY internships offer a first glimpse into a constantly evolving professional world, where early experiences can help students make informed decisions later on.

Last week, 14-year-old Clara completed her one-week BOGY internship at DAASI International. The goal was for her to gain more than just a general impression of our various departments during her week-long visit. We believe that real-world insights into the professional world are essential for making potential career paths tangible and aligning them with one’s own interests.
At DAASI International, Clara had the opportunity to explore various departments within an IT company—from software development and technical support to marketing, communications, and administration. She was accompanied by employees from each department, who explained their respective topics and areas in a practical and easy-to-understand way.

This allowed Clara to take her first steps with Python and set up a small “Hello World” program. She also gained insight into the basic structures of Linux environments and how to use typical development tools. Working with the marketing team, she learned how to prepare content for external channels and was introduced to project management. One of our IAM experts introduced the student to federations and showed her how digital identities are technically organized in networked systems. Clara finally wrapped up her internship at DAASI International with a stint in accounting.
The interplay of the many departments and roles within a company, as well as the question of how technical systems are organized and maintained behind the scenes, sparked great interest in Clara:
I found it particularly fascinating to see how websites are built and maintained. I was shown how to fix broken links and how search engine optimization (SEO) helps a website rank higher in search results. I also got a glimpse into how individual web pages are created using images and content.
We were delighted by Clara’s interest in our company. The tech industry clearly demonstrates how closely technical development, societal demands, and economic processes are intertwined. Issues such as data protection, digital sovereignty, and sustainable IT infrastructure are not merely technical matters, but also political and social ones. This makes it all the more important—and we are all the more pleased—to be able to help demonstrate these connections, at least to some extent, to the younger generation and make them tangible to a certain degree.
‘At 14, it’s impossible to have already decided on a career,’ says Markus Widmer, CTO and managing director-designate of DAASI International. ‘Seeing that there is a wide range of job roles within companies – whether they’re painting firms or IT companies – will hopefully help them to actively explore their options when the time comes to make a decision.’
We hope we’ve been able to help Clara a little in her search for a fulfilling role in the job market, and we wish her all the best for the future!
