DAASI International celebrates its anniversary with conference, ceremony, and new company management.
25 years of DAASI International – The Tübingen-based IT service provider looks back on a quarter of a century in the service of open source identity management. The company celebrated its anniversary last week with a conference entitled ‘IAM and Digital Sovereignty – The Future is Open’, followed by a festive evening event at the ‘Museum’ Tübingen. As part of the celebrations, the future management team of the company was introduced.
Tübingen, 30 May 2025 – DAASI International celebrated its 25th anniversary with a conference and festive evening event on 22 May. Around 90 guests, including long-standing customers, partners and companions from research, business and administration, gathered in the banquet halls of the Tübingen Museum Society to celebrate the anniversary of the open source company from Tübingen, which specialises in Identity & Access Management (IAM).
In the afternoon, the event opened with a conference entitled ‘IAM and Digital Sovereignty – The Future is Open’. Experts from the open source environment discussed current IAM topics. A video message from Peter Ganten, Chairman of the Open Source Business Alliance, kicked off the conference. This was followed by presentations on the open source solutions Shibboleth, didmos and eduMFA as well as a contribution from partner company Evolveum on the relationship between open source and academia.
During the subsequent evening event, which provided space for encounters and retrospection, Professor Thomas Walter, Director of the Centre for Data Processing at the University of Tübingen, Mr Thorsten Flink, Managing Director of WIT Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Tübingen and Ralf Gröper from the German Research Network paid tribute in their welcoming speeches to the role of DAASI International as a company that is consistently committed to digital sovereignty.
In recognition of a quarter of a century of entrepreneurial activity, DAASI International also received a certificate of honour from the Reutlingen Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
A special moment was the speech by founder and CEO Peter Gietz, who not only looked back on the development of the company since its foundation in December 2000, but also announced its future direction: With his expected retirement in 2026, Peter Gietz will hand over the management of DAASI International to the authorised signatories and long-time employees Markus Widmer and David Hübner. The official introduction of the two future CEOs was met with great applause from the guests.
The evening was rounded off with a dinner and a musical performance by the band Impala Ray.
For 25 years, DAASI International has combined technological expertise in the field of open source IAM with a value-driven commitment to open standards and data protection. By consistently focussing on digital sovereignty, interoperability and sustainability, the company makes an important contribution to shaping future-proof and independent digital ecosystems.
