Video Conference Tool for NGOs Free of Charge – DAASI International Provides Jitsi Servers
Tübingen, May 14, 2020 – The Tübingen IT service provider and software development company DAASI International provides communication servers for the open source software Jitsi, and is going to host them for one year free of charge. This offer extends to any private organisation which are charitable to social, humanitarian, or environmental causes.
Recently, the COVID-19 crisis has underlined the importance of digital communication as well as the digitisation of all processes in every sector. However, especially non-profit organisations often lack financial means and human resources to advance the digital transformation.
The video conference tool Jitsi is an open source application which allows its users to conduct online video meetings for free. For particularly good performance and high data security, DAASI International provides NGOs with additionally required capacities on German servers and takes over hosting for the first year.
With this offer, the IT service provider from Tübingen wants to show solidarity with socially involved organisations. Simultaneously, Jitsi is promoted as alternative to systems of American companies which struggle to offer GDPR-compliant services.
Meanwhile, DAASI International is also working on a appropriate offer for companies.
With Jitsi Personal Contact Continues to Be Possible
Feder, part of the German charity organisations Lebenshilfe Reutlingen e.V. and BruderhausDiakonie, supports and consults families with disabled children. As of recently, they have started to use Jitsi. Now, families and caretakers can have face-to-face communication again. For this purpose, DAASI International set up a communication structure video chats and the corresponding server in order to be able to protect sensitive conversation content.
“We are very happy to be able to continue to provide support this way, as it is contactless, yet personal,” says Feder employee Janine Wiese.
